About the Society

The Aims of the Society

To encourage local artists and to create awareness of art in the district.

A small group of art lovers from all walks of life met for the very first meeting in March 1987. All of them were very enthusiastic to start an art society because there was nothing in the area to serve their needs.

The first annual exhibition was not until the following year, 1988, and was a great success. Since then the Society has gone from strength to strength with more members joining over the years. Not everyone in the society has had formal training and many learners have gone on to be very accomplished artists. We offer a community service to people who love to paint or enjoy art.

Where and when we meet

AT:  CREYK PARK PAVILLION, Waltham Rd. Armadale, Western Australia

The first Thursday of every month (except January) 7pm

A short, and friendly, meeting takes place followed by tea or coffee and a chance to meet with friends. Then a demonstration by a well known artist, or a workshop. This is always inspiring !!

Visitors are always welcome, so just come along - a small charge of $5 is payable to cover the cost of tea, coffee and biscuits, and there is a raffle and sales table.

Contact us for more information.

Exhibitions

There is no commission on the sale of paintings at any of our exhibitions, this makes the prices very reasonable.

A major Art Exhibition and sale of works is arranged annually, usually late October/early November. This is one of the most successful exhibitions in the area with over 50 paintings being sold. It is held in the Armadale Hall, Jull Street, Armadale, a Heritage building, and a beautiful venue for this very popular exhibition.

An exhibition is also held in the Thornlie Square Shopping Centre, in June. This is held over two weeks and is also extremely popular. The standard of work in both of these exhibitions is outstanding and the local community is very supportive. We are very grateful for the support the management of the Thornlie Square Shopping Centre has given us.

We are pleased to announce that we will be at the Armadale Central Shopping Centre the last week in February and the first week in March, so look out for us there. Our sincere thanks goes to the management of the shopping centre for all their help in organising this exhibition.

KEEP WATCHING OUR LATEST NEWS PAGE FOR THE DATES AND TIMES OF THESE EVENTS.
