Dao Muscat

Profile

My name is Dao Cam Muscat (Cam-Dao), I am from Vietnam, and used to work at Banmethuot. I arrived to Australia in 1981, with Refugee Status (I am one of The Boat People). In my life, I always have a passion for oil painting, and wish one day I will be able to do it.

November 1999, I went to France for holidays, and my Sister-In-Law, who is doing and Acrylic painting. One night, she said to me:"Please try to do some painting, because it's very relaxing and very good hobby too", I said to her:"I don't think I can do it", but my sister let me watch her paint a "Flower in a Vase". It was a surprise for me, I did it, I painted a picture of "Flower in a Vase".

When I came back to Australia, I couldn't paint anything, I don't know how to start or what the technique to do …etc…etc…, and then one day I found my teacher, he is very good teacher, he taught me the technique in oil, everything I need to know….It took me nine lessons all together, I became an Artist when I was 48 years old, for me it was very strange, because most Artist they learn when they are early age not like me. But I still have a lot to learn and create new things.

In year 2000, I became member of Armadale Society of artists, and my first exhibition at City of Belmont, and sold one of my paintings "Iris Flowers" …. And late I sold another one for my friend. It made me feel I achieve something in my life, and I am very proud of myself.

At the moment I only have very little time to do painting and enjoy it, with me, I only consider myself I am a Art Lover more than an Artist, and I wish the feeling of painting still in my heart for ever …. and ever……
