Airene grew up in beautiful Penang but left to pursue a nursing career in the UK. It was not until she retired from nursing in 2002 that she took up acrylic painting with a group of artists in Clackton on Sea. Initially she concentrated on landscapes, which have remained one of her Favorite subjects.

Airene arrived in Perth in early 2000s  with her husband Colin and wasted no time in joining the ASA in Railway Rd, Kelmscott. She has attended quite a few ASA workshops, including  abstracts with David Giles and oils  with Trish Halloran. She is concentrating on acrylic and pastel landscapes now and is an enthusiastic attendee at several painting groups in the ASA.

Airene is inspired by the impressionist and abstract artists Van Gough, Renoir and Cezanne particularly. Their influence is often reflected in her work.

Her style is wild, energetic and expressive; bursting with energy.
